How To Slow Down Type 2 Diabetes
Reviewed by Staff of Diabetes Digest

  1. Be serious about type 2 diabetes as soon as you are diagnosed. Type 2 diabetes is not borderline diabetes or a touch of sugar. When most people are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, they have had elevated blood glucose levels for an average of 7 years.
  2. Make sure your health care provider takes type 2 seriously.
  3. Get to and stay at a healthy weight-make healthy food choices and become more active.
  4. From day 1, set goals for your short-term and long-term blood glucose levels.
  5. Tell your health care provider if you observe that your blood glucose levels are on the rise. It’s probably a sign your management plan needs to change.
  6. Don’t resist insulin. If you need insulin, you’ll feel better once you start taking it.
